Change Season, Change to a Healthy Winter Diet

We are already in mid October approaching fast the month of November. It is almost impossible to not feel a little bit nostalgic at this moment of the year of the summer time. Those long days with plenty of daylight till night time.

There are tips in our diet that we can start introducing as the cold season makes its entrance.

Instead of... hot chocolate --->Spiced tea! with cinnamon sprinkle and milk of your choice (cow, coconut, soya, almond,rice...). Spicy teas contain wonderful spices and nutrients like  ginger, cloves, pepper, cinnamon...that not only stimulate digestion but also improve poor blood circulation, wakes you up and keeps your sweet cravings in line.

Instead of... heavy casseroles and currys---> Chicken soup! It is really one of the best natural remedies to boost your immune system while you are recovering from a cold or feel a bit weak. A home made chicken soup contains plenty of aminoacids, vitamins and minerals from the chicken. Many studies confirm that if you suffering from flu better a soup on time than tons of aspirins.

Instead of ... cold cereals---> Hot cereals! Warm muesli or cooked oats with honey and fruit are not only delicious but super comforting in a cold early morning. Oats are good for your heart with its cholesterol lowering effect and it also balances insulin.

Instead of.. potato salads in mayonnaise--->  Hotpot! of baby potatoes and vegetables garnished with spices, mustard, soy sauce, fresh ginger, olive oil...

Instead of...coffee all the time---> Herbal tea with lemon will not only top up your fluid intake but it will also strenghen your inmune system.

It´s not about not trying that hot chocolate or curry ever again. The rule is: If you eat healthily 95% of the time, then you are on the right path!

Foods full of healthy enzymes for your digestion

So, we are full on lately on the matter of digestive aids. From what should be on our plate to avoid heavy digestion to remedies we can buy in our health store. It is a big issue here and now I want to bring your attention to foods that will help you digest properly. As I said before, clever eating is your best tool. Or as they say, knowledge is power!

What foods are particularly good?

Papaya---> Finish your lunch with papaya, cause it contains Papain, the enzyme to break down protein that will ease your digestion.  There is so much goodness in Papaya besides the enzyme that I would say , eat it as much as you can! It is really high in vitamin A and C. And another really good thing is that it works wonders for your skin( ladies ? and guys too!) A face mask with papaya  will leave your skin soft, nourished and bright because the enzymes will "eat" the dead cells, perfect for dull skin. No wonder Columbus named it Fruit of Angels
.

Pineapple---> Another truly amazing fruit that contains a very therapeutic enzyme called Bromelain. It is in the center where is found the most. This enzyme  is particularly good again to digest your beefsteak, cause it will break down the protein. It is also anti-inflammatory and diuretic. All this only if you eat it fresh! Canned or cooked pineapple does not count.

Live Yogurt and Kefir--->Full of Probiotics. What are they? They are Bacterias. The beneficial ones to ensure a healthy bowel and strong immune system. Fat free probiotic yogurt(without fruits) can be also helpful to alleviate heartburn,  so this is  another wonderful idea to finish a meal that has given you acidity.

Fermented cabbage (or Sauerkraut) ---> Same as above! Eating raw fermented cabbage adds probiotics to your meal.

Sprouts (bean sprouts like soy bean, alfalfa..)--->0.Adding germinated seeds to our salad is extremely healthy cause we add a good amount of enzymes that are found in the sprouts. Those enzymes will help our body in the digestion process as well as in the neutralization of toxins.
